personal projects and internet failure (again)

we haven't had internet since last tuesday.
Virgin have been decidedly unhelpful, so we're going to ring them again tomorrow.

so a quick update while i'm at university.

first point. i've been reminded that the deadlines for oue dissertation draft and pre-production on our personal projects are the same day. I'm not happy.

the main news though is that so far, every production meeting we've had with Dave has changed our group's design for our project.
We have 2 weeks until the 6-week-crit and with all the changes, we don't have anything really solid. i say we don't have anything, that's not completely true. we know the overall aesthetic, and what gameplay we want, but things like the character and level/environment designs have been changed 3 times so far.
we had a tutorial/tech class on character walkcycles which has meant that i've now got a rig to play with different emotions and walkcycles for the various characters.

which reminds me, i haven't had the opportunity to explain our idea.
it's a action-platformer.
it's called Void.
it's set in an environment that looks like it's been carved and built out of coral. We're not setting it underwater though.
the actual details surrounding the level design are still up in the air, but an idea thrown around today was that touching or coming into contact with a certain species of coral/whatever is inside the environment changes the physical attributes of the player character. we're unsure how far we might take that idea, but it's sounds an interesting proposition.
until the net is back at home, i won't have any images or anything to upload. and that could take any length of time... :(

why is technology so crap?
